The Four Squares - Steve's Hamper

The Four Squares kick out some simple, tough punk tunes. Unfortunately, for my tastes, they could do about as much for me as a kick in the pants. The band has a sort of older punk sound, very basic and straightforward. To me, that means uninventive…that is how they strike me. Over top of the rough-around-the-edges guitar licks is a layer of annoying gruff vocals that sometimes sounds like the vocalist is rapping it’s a bit weird for my tastes. The diagnosis: If you need something that doesn’t require a whole lot of thinking to listen to, and the old school tough punk feel appeals to you, go for it. Otherwise, don’t waste your time and money on this. I wouldn’t.
