Finch

Although I've never been there, I would bet that Temecula, CA is a boring place to live. With so much time on their hands, the guys in Finch sure know how to rock. They've been playing together for about 3 years now, and got signed to Drive Thru because their guitar player, Randy, invited Richard and Stephanie to a practice session. I sat down with Nate, the singer, and Derek, the bassist, at the Warped Tour here in Washington. Here is what they had to say.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and could only bring 3 CDs and 3 other things, what would you bring??
Nate: I would bring a Faith No More CD, does not matter which one, any one. A Bjork CD, does not matter which one, and I would grab uh...man, that's tough, I don't know, probably a soundtrack, or a compilation or something. And...3 other things? I don't know, just make sure that I have clothes. Derek: Gotta be stylin' man..Alkaline Trio, any CD, RxBandits, and Brand New.

Would you rather never have sex again, or have sex once with a walrus?
Derek: The walrus. Nate: I'd go for the walrus myself.

And if you could be anyone for a day, who would you be, and why
Nate: I'd be Ricky Riccardo, because I Love Lucy's a rad show, I want to be on that show. Derek: I don't know...I'd be Pappas (Finch's drummer).

So, how many tours would you say that you've been on?
Nate: We've been touring for like a year and a half. But mostly, we've just did the west coast for a long time, but we've branched out last year, around September of last year, and did the east coast for the first time. And now we've done the whole country like 5 times.

Do you have a funny tour story that sticks in your head?
Nate: Um...well, Joe Brown from A Static Lullaby fucked 15 girls in 15 cities.

That's like Poison n' shit! What's your take on MP3's, and people sharing your music over the internet?
Nate: I have mixed emotions on that, I don't know. I care...well, sometimes I care, and sometimes I don't. I don't know, it just depends on what day you catch me. Derek: It's cool if it brings people to the shows, I don't really care. If people are at the shows, singing along that keeps me happy.
